Blue Book

The Blue Book was the notorious guide to New Orleans’ red-light Storyville district. Originally printed in the early 1900s, and with the express instructions that the Blue Book never be mailed, the guides were sold throughout Storyville and featured not only ads for brothels within the district, but also directories for the prostitutes who worked in them, including their race and personal specialties. Very few original copies of the Blue Book survive (readers obviously heeded the publisher’s warning), but this replica is true to the original version, though with a hard cover, and offers a snapshot in time of a distinct era in New Orleans’ history.
